  Looking for persons willing to take part

        in a sightseeing behaviour survey!!


We are looking for persons willing to take part in a survey implemented jointly by Kyoto University and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) on sightseeing behaviour using Smartphone applications.
    • The first 100 persons to apply will be presented with a QUO Card (worth 500 yen).
    • A QUO Card is a gift token (prepaid card) that can be used at facilities such as convenience stores and family restaurants nationwide.
  • Overview of the Survey
  • The purpose of the survey is to ascertain the sightseeing behaviour of tourists using Smartphone GPS information and to assess the function in the application developed by NTT that gives a brief description of sightseeing spots.(Survey data such as GPS information will be registered only when participants in the survey are sightseeing in the city of Kyoto. For details, please see the Application Usage Policy.)
    The first 100 persons to participate in the survey and help us with assessment of the provision of information on sightseeing behaviour and NTT technology will be presented with a QUO card (worth 500 yen).
    The survey will be conducted from January 7 (Saturday) to March 20 (Monday, national holiday) 2017.

  • How to Participate in the Survey
  • This is a very simple survey!
    Download the dedicated application (K’LOOP Navi) from this site and install in your Smartphone (Android (over 4.3) only). The dedicated application will then automatically register your sightseeing behaviour and send it to a server. (Registration and sending of data will be subject to your agreement with the Application Usage Policy and limited to your sightseeing behaviour in Kyoto.)
    Please note that any communication costs generated when data is sent will be borne by survey participants.
    When boarding K’LOOP, tap the star symbol (★) on the upper left of the dedicated application home screen and show your phone to the tour guide together with your boarding ticket. The first 100 persons will be presented with a QUO card (worth 500 yen).

  • Conditions for Participation
    • Persons who have purchased a K’LOOP ticket for adults and use K’LOOP are eligible.
    • Persons with an Android Smartphone who have downloaded and installed the dedicated application (K’LOOP Navi) are eligible.
    • Persons who agree to the use of information by the survey organizations (Kyoto University and NTT) of the “Survey Content (Information sent to the server)” below including a history of their movements in the city of Kyoto are eligible.

  • Survey content (Information sent to the server)
  • The following information will be sent to the server:
    • Sightseeing behaviour in the city of Kyoto (history of movements)
    • Basic attributes of survey participants requested by the dedicated application (Age, gender, address, language used, number of accompanying travellers and number of visits to Kyoto)
    • Results of assessment and responses to the questionnaire regarding information on spots provided by the dedicated application
    • Photographs (images, dates taken and positional information) taken by the dedicated application and posted together with comments
    • History of reception of information from wireless beacons and Wi-Fi access points installed on K’LOOP buses

    To install the application, you need to allow installation of “apps from unknown sources.”
    “Apps from unknown sources” can be installed in one of the following two ways:
      1. Installation following the instructions on the screen displayed for installation
      2. The application can be installed by following the instructions on the screen displayed when the application is downloaded and allowing installation of “apps from unknown sources.”
      3. Installation by making settings on your Smartphone setting screen
      4. Tap Smartphone settings and select security from the menu displayed on the screen. The application can be installed by selecting “Allow installation of apps from unknown sources” on the security screen and then downloading.
